Five years ago I unknowingly purchased some of the most delicious licorice I had ever had as a gift for some of my neighbors.

It was Christmas time and a few of our neighbors wanted to drop off some small gifts for us, nothing major just a friendly basket of sorts. Me, already drowning in holiday season affairs, knew I needed to now reciprocate their kindness to avoid awkward stares when taking out my garbage. So I went online and ended up ordering some licorice to put in a little basket along with some other goodies. Turns out this was not just any ol’ licorice. After receiving their baskets, the neighborly conversations that followed were all about how GOOD that licorice was. So I decided to try it for myself and boy were they right!

This stuff was the real deal.

Fast forward a few years I am now partnered with that same family owned licorice factory, sponsoring fundraisers for elementary schools and sports teams, while also selling at the weekend farmers markets and street fairs.

But it’s not just my life that was changed by these soft red ropes…

As a member of the Chino and Ontario community for over 28 years I’ve definitely seen and participated in my fair share of fundraisers. With all of our amazing schools, sports teams, clubs, and groups it feels like your freezer is a never ending supply of cookie dough and you’ve already eaten more melted chocolate bars than you’re willing to admit. Not to mention on the flip side of things (as a mom actually doing the fundraising) you have to worry about keeping all this product from melting and thawing, and trust me…the list goes on. Keeping up with all your kids’ extra curricular activities is challenging enough.
